WHAT'S YOUR DESTINY?

Do you believe in destiny? We all should, because we are all destined to be under the will of God. If this is the case then why do we still end up in misery at times? Let us not be misled anymore and answer with perfect honesty with our whole heart, mind and soul the question, have we always decided for a life destined to give glory and praise to God. In the midst of all the commotion going on around us, where we are no longer sure who can be trusted or not, we can be assured that Jesus Christ is on our side. Today's 1st reading tells us that He accomplishes all things according to the intention of his will. It is a relief and consolation that it is not our will or someone else but God's perfect will. Thus we always pray, Thy will be done. We can completely trust His perfect will to work for our good. Amen. Hallelujah!

Ephesians 1:11-14
11 Brothers and sisters: In Christ we were also chosen, destined in accord with the purpose of the one who accomplishes all things according to the intention of his will, 12 so that we might exist for the praise of his glory, we who first hoped in Christ...

We should not give room to any doubt, fear, anxiety, impatience, irritability, hatred, sadness, iniquity, unfaithfulness, disloyalty, pride and loss of self control. Let us not choose to give in to these. They are all characteristics that should not be found in a people the Lord has chosen to be His own. Let us never lose sight of this wonderful plan that God has for all of us. We may not be seeing it right now, having doubts about it, not paying attention to it or unable to commit to it. Whatever it may be, these are all hindrances that prevent us from gaining access to the goodness of the Lord. Never allow ourselves to miss out on this privilege that is accorded to all of us as the children of God. God chose us first and it is only right and fitting that we choose Him too. If we always focus on the Lord and put His words in our presence at all times then we can be assured that we have a lamp unto our feet that is lighting our path. We have to entrust all our cares and worries to the Lord for He can do better things for our lives than all our works combined. No matter how hard we try to succeed in what we do if it's not in accordance to God's plan then nothing will ever come out of it. We may succeed in one aspect but we will never be totally at peace for in the end it will always be the will and plan of God that will prevail. We just have to acknowledge that we are sparing ourselves of all the trouble and heartaches if we will just be obedient and completely trust in the Lord's plan. We all have our personal plans and designs and we may not be able to fully understand what is going on at the present time. It is not easy for the wisdom in the eyes of God is foolishness to the world but what's most important is that we should always consult everything to God first, just believe and surrender everything to Him for He knows best. We have to realize this one most important truth that we should all subscribe to, which is to constantly align ourselves and conform to the will and plan of God in our lives. The power of God knows no limits and we can always rely on Him for anything that we are in need. Let us rely on God's power and completely trust Him to bring to fulfillment everything that He has promised. Amen. Hallelujah!

Psalm 33:1-2, 4-5, 12-13
R: Blessed the people the Lord has chosen to be his own.
...For upright is the word of the LORD, and all his works are trustworthy. 5 He loves justice and right; of the kindness of the LORD the earth is full ...12 Blessed the nation whose God is the LORD, the people he has chosen for his own inheritance. 13 From heaven the LORD looks down; he sees all mankind.

It is always a good feeling to hear someone say assuring words of sincere and genuine love and care especially if we are that person being spoken to. Today’s gospel is exactly that and Jesus is not just any person, He is also God. He is true God and true man. In several passages in Mark, Jesus' human nature was shown in Mk 8:1-3 (felt pity) "In those days when there again was a great crowd without anything to eat, he summoned the disciples and said, "My heart is moved with pity for the crowd, because they have been with me now for three days and have nothing to eat. If I send them away hungry to their homes, they will collapse on the way, and some of them have come a great distance."

In Mark 6:34: When he disembarked and saw the vast crowd, his heart was moved with pity for them, for they were like sheep without a shepherd; and he began to teach them many things.

Mark 6:6:(amazement) He was amazed at their lack of faith. He went around to the villages in the vicinity teaching.

Mark 11:12-14:(cursed the fig tree) The next day as they were leaving Bethany he was hungry. Seeing from a distance a fig tree in leaf, he went over to see if he could find anything on it. When he reached it he found nothing but leaves; it was not the time for figs. And he said to it in reply, "May no one ever eat of your fruit again!" And his disciples heard it.
Mark 14:32-34 Then they came to a place named Gethsemane, and he said to his disciples, "Sit here while I pray. "He took with him Peter, James, and John, and began to be troubled and distressed. Then he said to them, "My soul is sorrowful even to death. Remain here and keep watch." This scene in the garden of Gethsemane showed Jesus' feelings of pain, fear, abandonment. This was even aggravated by the fact that during His time this garden was situated in an incline in the hill top below the highest part of that hill where there was a slaughter house. During that time of the Passion and Death of Jesus it was also the time when they slaughter goats for the Passover and Jesus can see the blood from the slaughter house draining from on top of the garden. He saw Himself ending up with the same fate as the goats. Though he said, "Abba, Father, all things are possible to you. Take this cup away from me, but not what I will but what you will.", His great love for us and His complete surrender to God's will prevailed. We are afraid of a lot of things that are happening right now in the whole world but Jesus gave us a stern warning not to be afraid of those who kill the body but after that can do no more rather be afraid of one who can kill and has the power to cast into Gehenna. I believe that if we will just focus on God's tremendous love for us and guard our souls then there is really nothing to fear.  As in today's gospel, God everlasting love for us is once again declared by reminding us of who we are for God. Let us not lose sight of this great dignity that we have as God's most precious creature. If we know that we are destined to be safe secure in the arms of our Creator then nothing can bother us anymore. Amen. Hallelujah!

Luke 12:1-7
I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body but after that can do no more. I shall show you whom to fear. Be afraid of the one who after killing has the power to cast into Gehenna; yes, I tell you, be afraid of that one. Are not five sparrows sold for two small coins? Yet not one of them has escaped the notice of God. Even the hairs of your head have all been counted. Do not be afraid. You are worth more than many sparrows.”
