We must be ready for the times when we may look stupid in
the world's point of view but we are surely better off that way than to be
stupid in God's point of view. We should always be confident of God's promises
and assurances. We must always look back, recall and never forget those moments
when we have witnessed and experienced God’s goodness. We should not give in to
confusions and doubts and maintain our conviction in our belief in God. Amen.
Hallelujah!
Galatians 3: 1-5
O stupid Galatians! Who has bewitched you,...3 Are you so
stupid? After beginning with the Spirit, are you now ending with the flesh? 4
Did you experience so many things in vain? — if indeed it was in vain.
We may have been in a situation wherein we are at a loss and
torn between doing and not doing something. There may be times when we are
confronted with several mind bogglers and twisters due to certain situations
and people we meet and talk to. All of them may be pointing to something we
have been very unsure of doing. God is always generous in His response to us
and would let us know what to do if we truly seek His will. Try God in prayer
and He will surely show us the way. Although there are times when we are having
cold feet we should continue to hope that God is always consistent and never
fail or falter. No matter what our situations are we must not lose sight of the
fact that we have a loving God who never miss a single day in reminding us that
He is God and in control. The Lord our God is able to carry out what He has promised
to do. He is God and Lord of the Universe. There is nothing more that God can
do for us that He did not do. Let us always have this confidence and trust in
the Lord, the same God of Israel who came to them and has come to us. Amen.
Hallelujah!
Luke 1:69, 70, 71-72, 73-75
R: Blessed be the Lord the God of Israel; he has come to his
people.
69 He has raised up for us a mighty savior, born of the
house of his servant David. (R) 70 Through his holy prophets he promised of old 71 that he would save us from
our sins from the hand of all who hate us. 72 He promised to show mercy to our
fathers and to be mindful of his holy covenant. (R) 73 This was the oath he
swore to our father Abraham: 74 to set us free from the bonds of our enemies,
free to worship him without fear, 75 holy and righteousness in his sight all
the days of our life.
Today's gospel tells us that God won't neglect us and always
provide for all our needs. It also talks of a man who is very persistent in
asking for something from his friend. We should praise and thank God because
the gospel assures and gives us new found strength and confidence that whatever
we have been praying for a long time already has been heard by God. We just
have to continue lifting everything to God unceasingly. We must always have
that attitude of hope and expectant faith in our God the Father in heaven. We
must believe that our persistent prayers to God will bear fruit. God is
merciful, loving and concerned over our own welfare that He continues to be the
perfect Father and parent to us always. If we will just keep the words of God
in our hearts, minds and souls and live by it every single day then we can
never go wrong. Today's gospel is one of the first bible passages that have
really caught my attention when I was just new to the Catholic Charismatic
Renewal. There were a lot of bible verses which are worth memorizing but this
one I never had any difficulty remembering. Being a parent and mother myself
and imperfect at that, I am still capable of doing the best that I can for the
sake of my children. If we can do it for our children so shall God who is
perfect in every way. Knowing this to be true in my heart and mind then we
should never have any doubt about the love, care and concern that God our
Father has for all of us, His children. We have an all knowing God and Father
who is always ready to provide for everything that we need except for those
things which are not good for us. We may think that the things we have been
praying for are good for us as presented and dictated by our limited minds,
imperfect ways, yearnings and plans. We are God's children and we are destined
for greater things and more than what our minds could ever comprehend. Amen.
Hallelujah!
Luke 11: 5-13
8 I tell you, if he does not get up to give him the loaves
because of their friendship, he will get up to give him whatever he needs
because of his persistence. 9 “And I tell you, ask and you will receive; seek
and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 10 For everyone
who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks,
the door will be opened. 11 What father among you would hand his son a snake
when he asks for a fish? 12 Or hand him a scorpion when he asks for an egg? 13
If you then, who are wicked, know how to give good gifts to your children, how
much more will the Father in heaven give the holy Spirit to those who ask him?”
